New Occupations by Decade and Rule — bar chart of new occupational titles across 1980–2018

This talk introduces our work in progress on new occupations in the U.S. labor market from 1980 to 2018. We constructed an occupation-level measure of new work, and examined whether new occupations have facilitated more rigid social reproduction or more fluid social mobility across two generations.
