Traditional research on intergenerational mobility assumes a stable landscape in which parents and offspring navigate an identical set of occupational categories. This assumption, though widely held, has seldom been tested, and it falters in a restructuring labor market, where the emergence of new occupational titles reshapes the destinations available to the next generation.
Abstract
This paper examines how intergenerational mobility patterns change among new occupations that emerged since 1980, using a data-driven approach to the conventional log-linear models.
